Last month we announced that Grimes LLC will be hosting an International Trademark Association (INTA) roundtable on October 23, 2013. The topic is: “Whose Content is it Anyway? IP Issues in Social Media”. This is an important and timely topic given the enormous importance of social media in today’s business climate and the need for companies to embrace social media’s full potential. There are important intellectual property issues and considerations in the social media context, many of which companies are just beginning to discover. The INTA roundtable will cover a variety of relevant topics, such as using social media in business, ownership of content, spotting risks and threats to intellectual property rights, addressing and mitigating such risks and threats and developing a successful enforcement strategy of those rights across the various social media platforms.
